Exchange Your Home

Mutual exchanges are about two tenants or more agreeing with each other that they want to swap their tenancies. In order to do this you will have to complete an application form. Please be advised that certain criteria is applicable and this will be discussed with you when we receive your application.

We will try to find another Aksa tenant who is suitable for you to swap your home with. In order to help you find someone to swap with, we would recommend that you join the mutual exchange list of other housing providers in your area.

Swap Your Home

If you are a tenant of Aksa Homes or another provider of social housing you can apply to exchange homes with another tenant.

House Exchange

We have partnered up with House Exchange, the UK’s leading council house exchange and home swap direct provider, to give you free access to their Mutual Exchange service. Simply sign up and look for swaps, all free of charge!

House Exchange is easy to use and automatically matches you with tenants of Aksa Homes and other Registered Social Housing providers in Oldham, Manchester, Tameside, Bury and other areas who are interested in your home and have a home you may be interested in.

All you need to do is register at https://www.houseexchange.org.uk/ then, once your registration has been approved by us, you will be able to access information about tenants who may wish to exchange properties with you.

Please Note: To be eligible for HomeSwap, you must have a clear rent account and no anti-social behaviour issues.

House Exchange will also email you at regular intervals with details of a suitable exchange partner. If you do not have access to the Internet, House Exchange will send match alerts to your mobile phone every two weeks.

If you do not have a computer at home, there are other ways for you to register and access the House Exchange website:

  • Family or friends
  • Local libraries have Internet access available to the public, as well as Internet cafes
  • Internet access to the site is available in our office
  • You could come to the support drop in (every Wednesday 09.30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • You could attend the neighbourhood drop-in (contact the office for further details of dates and times)
